RULES, BYLAWS,
and other documents
Use this area to view and download the most up-to-date files pertinent to the operation of the League. Please share them with your participants.
All Bylaws and Rules as published here, distributed or discussed at meetings, regardless of how sectioned, formatted, or titled shall be considered the Rules of this organization and shall be binding on all Officers, Board Members, Affiliate Members, and anyone involved with the affiliate organization. A plea of ignorance of these Rules and the requirements herein is not a sufficient excuse to avoid fees, fines, and/or discipline. Violators shall expect immediate and appropriate action in such cases as cited by the BOD.
CLUB ASSIGNORS must keep a record of their weekly referee assignments and provide them upon the request of the Board.
This is requirement per Assignor Code of Conduct
Only Certified Referees!
MUST email all rosters that indicate any RED card (against either team) within 24 hours to redcards@ghsl.net
Failure to submit will generate a fine and/or the
SUSPENSION of the coach.
ALL SCHEDULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS THE SEASON MOVES ALONG.
SCHEDULES ARE FROZEN THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE THE GAME WEEKEND.
Don't Print it and forget it!
ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR COACH TO CONFIRM GAME TIMES/LOCATIONS. REMEMBER, THESE ARE KICKOFF TIMES, NOT ARRIVAL TIMES. ALL GAMES START AT THE EXACT TIME STATED.
Referees do not wait!
01
TO LEARN YOUR TEAM NAME/NUMBER ASK YOUR COACH. MANY CLUBS HAVE MULTIPLE TEAMS IN EACH AGE GROUP.
02
Please get in the habit of reviewing your schedules online every Wednesday, as that is when any agreed-to changes will be posted.
03
Game changes MUST be received by the Board by 8 pm on Tuesday preceding the game.
04
Any requests that come in after the deadline, or do not have BOTH clubs clearly authorizing a specific change, will NOT BE MADE.
05
You must first agree with the opposing team's club rep to request a game change. If the other club agrees to the change, use the GotSport Request Game Change feature to execute the change.
06
Games will NOT just be "pulled" from the schedule, you must provide the new date, time, and location in your original request.
07
A fine will be charged for any games that are not played, that are listed as of Wednesday morning. NO EXCEPTIONS.
08
If you need to cancel a game late, please email the league as soon as you are aware. A fine will still be imposed ($100), but at least you will not waste the other team's time. Consider it a "cost of doing business." Please do not expect us to waive these fines, for any reason.
09
Failure to follow rules and "getting away with it" does not constitute a precedent and does not prevent the Rules Committee from correcting their mistake and enforcing new, future, AND PAST violations.
10
Reminder to reps - Score your games!
All games must be scored by 8:00 pm the following Tuesday to avoid a fine! HOME TEAM is responsible for a fine of $25 per game not scored

Few clarifications regarding common questions:
-
U8 7v7 - there ARE penalty kicks, everything is indirect EXCEPT if there is a penalty kick.
-
4v4 games - EVERYTHING IS INDIRECT, except for the penalty kick, which is taken uncontested from the center kickoff spot.
-
All coaches, including U6 coaches, are to stay on the sideline at all times, no coaches on the pitch during the game. Let them play, let them make decisions, let them loose. The score does not matter.
-
If you have a kid standing in front of the goal in a 4v4 game (WHICH IS PLAYED WITHOUT THE GOALKEEPER), you are not "teaching them to protect the goal"! You are a "coach" who cares more about the score than that kid's development.
-
Thanks!

NEW for 2022/2023 Spring Season (voted in at December meeting) for the U6 & U8 4v4 divisions - penalty kicks, buildout line, and throw-ins
-
For the goal kicks and free kicks from inside the goal box - the defending team will retreat into their half of the field to allow the team in possession to restart the game without immediate pressure.
-
For all 4v4 games, the ball shall be kicked in to play from the sideline instead of thrown in.
-
"Penalty kicks" - if, in the referee’s opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by the infraction in the area right in front of the defending team's goal, a "Penalty Kick" will be awarded. It is a direct kick taken from the top of the midfield line with all other players behind the midfield line. The defense obtains possession with a goal kick if a goal is not scored. Penalty kicks are not live balls.
